In the next 12 blog post, I am going to ask you some thought-provoking questions about being a Child Care Business Owner. In fact, my goal is to inspire you to give me your heart felt feedback about owning a childcare business. Most of all, your feedback will provide help me to write blog posts that will inspire you to grow and build a successful child care business.

A Real Story (What has been hard for me)

The photo that you see above is me painting the door in my preschool classroom. In fact, this photo was taking in the spring of 2021 and my dream of owning a center in Atlanta had come true. My husband and I were getting our Atlanta location ready to be licensed and it was an exciting time. However, the years before this location was filled with hard times and those hard times prepared us for the expansion in Atlanta.

I know first-hand that owning a childcare business can be tough at times and today I am going to share what has been the hardest part for me. Ready or not, here it comes:

  • When I became a home provider, the hardest part for me what dealing with complaining parents
  • Also, as a home provider, having a business in my home was hard for me, I felt like I was always at work
  • As a center owner, I initially struggles with learning how to select staff that was write for my center
  • In my first center, I struggled with managing a team and as a result of my lack of leadership, I had a high turnover.
  • As a multi-site owner, the hardest part was living 500 miles away from the center and trying to communicate my vision via zoom meeting and phone calls.

If you can relate to any of my business struggles above, let’s talk. What has been the hardest part of owning your childcare business: staffing, enrollment, finances, parents, or simply trying to do everything yourself?

I’m Struggling with my Team…

💡 This’s Week’s Child Care Business Boost Tip:
Happy Monday, this week I want to inspire you to listen to an audio book that inspires you to be a better leader. I listen to books on audible in my car and as I get ready for my day, it shapes my thinking and helps me to stay inspired as a child care business leader.

📣 Enrollment Tip:
The internet is the new phone book, and it is vital that you post on social media daily. Parents go online when they look for childcare and the more that you post, you will be easy to find in google searches. Don’t know where to start?

Simply take photos of the classroom activities and share on your childcare business Facebook and/or Instagram page. I have seen an increase in page view the more that we post online.

👩🏽‍💼 Leadership Tip:
Be sure that your staff know that you notice what they do by giving them positive feedback daily. When you constantly point out what your team is doing wrong, they feel belittled. So be sure to balance the feedback and share more positive feedback than negative.
