Hiring the right staff is one of the most important decisions you will make for your childcare business. In fact, bringing on someone who is not the right fit can hurt your operations and negatively affect overall morale.

On the other hand, when you hire someone who is truly the right fit, the difference is clear. You can see their strengths, confidence, and positive impact on your team.

Before hiring your next staff member, ask yourself an important question: Do you assess the strengths of your new hires?

In my experience, I have sometimes relied on what applicants said during interviews, only to find that their classroom performance did not match what they described.

Recently, I found a site that allows current employees and new hires to take a strengths assessment, and it has been very helpful for our team. When the right people are in the right roles and working in their areas of strength, it can be a major win for your childcare business.

Be sure to check out, Free Strengths Test | Find Your Character Traits & Personality Types and start assessing strengths before you hire. It will cost your or the staff member nothing.

The Child Care Business Owner Blog celebrates 16 years online!

Sixteen years ago this month, I felt inspired to begin blogging about the business of childcare. At the time, my only goal was to share what I had learned in the industry. When I launched the Child Care Business Owner blog, I had been directing my first childcare center for just over seven years and was still growing as a leader.

As I developed in my leadership role, I became motivated to teach other childcare business owners the lessons I had learned and applied in my own business. Writing this blog has been an honor because it has allowed me to inspire and mentor thousands of childcare business owners around the world.

Along the way, my childcare business has expanded several times since 2014 and even relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. Needless to say, I have had plenty to write about, including:

  • Quality Care Strategies
  • Marketing/ Enrollment building
  • Staff management
  • Expansion/ Managing Multiple locations
  • Money Management
  • Center Management
  • And so much more

It has been a pleasure to share what I have learned through this blog over the past 16 years and to inspire childcare business owners through my books, coaching, courses, and blog posts. Thank you for subscribing to the Child Care Business Owner Institute. I pray your business continues to navigate the industry’s changes with strength and resilience.

Most of all, I pray that if you are still in this work, you continue to evolve and take your business to new heights, because the best is yet to come for the childcare industry.
