What My Latest Expansion Taught Me

On August 16, 2021, my husband and I expanded our Child Care Business into Atlanta Georgia. If I can be honest, this expansion stretched my faith. It was the scariest business move that I had ever made and the best move that I could have ever made.

God has ordered our steps to a growing city, my Husband and I have met some amazing people, the vision of the business has been embraced, and the opportunities have been unlimited.

In fact, we’ve been in business for over 27 years, however the past five years has felt like a brand-new exciting Journey and the best is yet to come.

Before this expansion, we expanded four times in our hometown, however, expanding across state lines was different and I want to share with you today five vital details that my latest expansion taught me.

  1. If you feel the need to expand, do your research on the city where you want to expand and follow your gut.
  2. Write the vision for your expansion, because once you write the vision, you activate the plan.
  3. Stay Open minded, because you will have many deals to fall through, but there is only one deal for you.
  4. The systems that work where you are now, may no longer be effective where you are going.
  5. Your next expansion will require a different version of you, keep investing in yourself as a leader. Keep reading new books and learning new leadership skills.

Most of all, this expansion has taught me that it is important to come out of your comfort zone, because great things happen outside of your comfort zone!

    The Child Care Business Owner Institute Celebrates 16 Years Online!

    Sixteen years ago this month, I felt inspired to begin blogging about the business of childcare. At the time, my only goal was to share what I had learned in the industry. When I launched the Child Care Business Owner blog, I had been directing my first childcare center for just over seven years and was still growing as a leader.

    As I developed in my leadership role, I became motivated to teach other childcare business owners the lessons I had learned and applied in my own business. Writing this blog has been an honor because it has allowed me to inspire and mentor thousands of childcare business owners around the world.

    Along the way, my childcare business has expanded several times since 2014 and even relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. Needless to say, I have had plenty to write about, including:
