Serving Healthy Meals to Children
According to the American Dietetic Association, Food, nutrition and eating skills are among the most important things you can share with children: food to fuel busy, successful lives; nutrition to nourish strong bodies and smart brains; and eating skills to enjoy the social aspect of meals with family and friends.
Moreover, you can help to raise healthy eaters during these critical years by doing your best to serve regular, balanced meals and snacks with a variety of nutrient-rich foods. This is why it is vital that child care providers serve healthy meals to children!
Here is an example of healthy meals & snack to serve to young children (ages 2-12) in your care:
Breakfast
Whole wheat toast, strawberry and Milk
Lunch
Turkey slices, apple slices, corn, whole wheat bread and Milk
Snack
