Winning in the business of childcare solely depends on you and your ability to lead your team effectively. Let me ask you several questions? Do you feel that you are getting results as a Leader? Are you frustrated as a Leader? If so, I believe this article will give you the inspiration that you need to win as a Leader.

I can remember having many frustrating days as a leader until I focused on growing as a Leader. In fact, my Child Care Business did not grow until I grew as a Leader and took the time to invest in my team.

I’m currently reading a book by Jack Welch, titled Winning. Mr. Welch was the former CEO of General Electric, and he led the company to success for over 40-years.

Mr. Welch’s book was in my 2024 to read book pile in my home office and I must say this book has truly inspired the way that I lead my team. I started reading, Jack Welch book, Winning, this past Friday and I must say this book is loaded with business wisdom.

In fact, on the front of the book, there’s a quote by Warren Buffet and it reads: ” No other management book will ever be needed.”

Moreover, As I scrolled through the table of contents, I browsed for chapters specifically on Leadership topics, because I’m always looking to improve my leadership skills.

I discovered that Mr. Welch wrote a chapter on Leadership titled, It’s not Just about You. In that chapter he listed 8 things that leaders do in order to win in Business, and they are as follows:

  1. Upgrade your team and use every encounter to evaluate, coach and build self confidence in your team.
  2. Make sure your team not only see the vision, but they also live and breathe it.
  3. Get into your teams skin, exuding positive energy and enthusiam.
  4. Establish Trust with candor, transparency and credit.
  5. Have the courage to make unpopular decisions and gut calls.
  6. Probe and push with curiosity and make sure question are answered with action.
  7. Inspire risk taking and learning by setting example.
  8. Celebrate your successes!
