This past week was our first week of summer camp and it was a very busy week. However, we began planning for our summer camp back in March and I must say that planning ahead helped us to stay organized. Most of all, it gave our new staff a blueprint to have a successful day.
I have found that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. In fact, I believe that it is better to have a plan that may not work than to not have a plan at all. Moreover, when you plan ahead for your childcare business, it helps you to feel focused and the team that follows you may feel a sense of structure.
A childcare business comes with many moving parts, and it is vital that you have a plan for every detail of your business. Here’s a few planning strategies that I believe will help you to start with planning for a successful childcare business week:
- Write down your top priorities in your business planner before you start your week. This will help you to start your week feeling organized and focused.
- Create a plan for upcoming events and issue to your staff. If you have upcoming events, put your vision on paper and give it to your team.
- Have a plan for how you will communicate with parents. This may also include how often communication is to be sent to parents via text or via email.
- Create a weekly coaching plan for your staff. This will help you to be intentional about how you empower and lead your team.
- Enrollment building must be intentional, so be sure to have a weekly marketing plan. For example: Plan for how many times a day you will post on social media; when you will get out in the community, plans for your website and the days you will follow-up will families who have contacted you. When you have daily enrollment building activity, you will be surprised at how this will increase your enrollment.
Happy Planning and I wish you nothing but the best and good success!
