I can hardly believe that it has been 5 months since I’ve blogged! I have been busy settling into a new city and working on developing my leadership team.

As I wrote my Leadership meeting agenda for this week, I was inspired to share the agenda/training with you because I know that if you have employees; you may face some of the same challenges that I have faced with having employees.

Today I am going to share with you some principles that I gained from a book that I am reading titled: How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie.

Let’s talk about People skills

“Business is 80% People skills and 20% Knowledge”

The Big Secret of Dealing with People

There is only one way to get anybody to do what you need them to do and that is by making them feel important and making them want to do it.

Remember this:

1.     Every body likes a compliment. (So remember to be intentional about giving compliments)

If you walk in a classroom and notice a clean and organized space, you can say; I love how you keep your room organized and clean.

2.     Being critical kills ambition. (so give appreciation and encouragement)

Example: If you walk in a room and a teacher seems stressed. Stop and ask, is everything ok? After listening, you can say: I’m sorry you are having a rough day, but it will get better. How can I help?

An employee is late: You can say? I notice you were late, is everything ok? Then you can say, please remember to call if you anticipate being late so our rooms are not out of ratio. Also, I understand that traffic can be bad, however, please remember that it is very important that we are in compliance with the state child- to-ratio guidelines. So with that in mind, we need our team in the building on time.

So, try leaving a friendly trail of sparks of gratitude as you walk through your building. You will be surprised at how they will set sparks of friendship and connection with your team!

Developing The Faith To Own Multiple Locations

Many Child Care providers choose to either operate a home daycare or manage one center. However, if you desire to manage multiple locations, this blog post is written just for you.

In 2003, I had a dream to manage multiple locations. In fact, I saw my Child Care Business being a chain of facilities. I didn’t know how I would start-up multiple locations, so I began to study major child care chains.

My dream became a reality in 2016! In April 2016, I was presented with the opportunity to open a second location. Furthemore, I currently have plans to open a 3rs location in Atlanta.

When the opportunity was presented to me, all I could think about was my dream of having multiple locations. Then I started to doubt the idea. In fact, I have discovered that when your mind is not familiar with an idea, thoughts of self doubt or sabotage will manifest.

If you have a dream of owning multiple locations, I want to share with you: 7 Faith building tips and business skills that will prepare you for your Dream:

  1. Write down your dream of owning multiple locations. (Post it where you can see it daily)
  2. Talk about your Dream. Your words will attract what you need for the dream.
  3. Read books written by Successful Business Owners that have built major brands or simply study someone that has owned multiple locations.
  4. Get rid of any negative thinking. In fact, negative thinking will only hinder your business success.
  5. Work on creating systems in your Current facility that can be easily duplication in all of your centers.
  6. Create a Business expansion Plan and share it with your Staff. Employees want to be apart of a growing company !
  7. Don’t rush the process. It took my dream over 10 years to become a reality. Yours may not take that long, however, Business growth is worth the wait!

I would love to be your Business expansion Coach. If you need my assistance as you expand your Child Care Business, be sure to contact me to schedule your Business expansion coaching sessions! click here
