5 Things To Do When the Unexpected Happens

Expect the unexpected because life is full of surprises.Things that you can’t prevent from happening because they’re meant to happen, but instead of running away from it, you should embrace it, solve it and learn from it.

~ Melchor Lim

The Business of Child Care seems to come with the expected and God knows I’ve had my share, including:

  • A Sudden drop of enrollment
  • Employees leaving without giving adequate notice
  • Enrollment increases dramatically and I needed to hire more staff…and Fast!
  • And many other unexpected situations that I choose not to post online

Furthermore, having unexpected situations has helped me to learn how to think fast and it also caused me to realize that you must be at your best self emotionally and physically in this Business or you will easily burnout.

Whatever your unexpected situation may be today, just know that everything happens for a reason and there is always a new lesson to be learned.  Most importantly, be patient and don’t give-up!

Today I want to share with you 5 things to do when the unexpected happens:

  1. Stay calm. You will make better decisions when you are at peace.
  2. Stay positive. Negative words will only make your circumstances worse.
  3. Focus on what’s most important in your Business and do that.
  4. Reflect on the unexpected situation; Has this happened before? Can I prevent this from happening again? If not, do I need to change my perspective?
  5. Be willing to do whatever it takes until things are back to normal.

Feel free to leave your comments below and I will join the conversation soon.

Creating New Habits For a Successful Year!

good habits

Successful people have Successful Habits.~Jack Canfield

I am reading a book by Jack Canfied titled: The Power of Focus. The cover of the book caught my attention because I know that focused people are successful people.

So with that in mind, if you want to have a successful year in the business of childcare, you must get focused and develop good habits that lead to you having a Successful year.

In the book The Power of focus, Mr. Canfield wrote: “If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always got!

Do you want the same results this year that you got last year?

If not, It’s time to review your habits and develop new ones. I recently made a list of my bad and good habits and I discovered that I had 12 bad habits!

I know that’s bad, however, my good habits out weighed my bad ones and I was proud of that.

Today I want to challenge you to make a list of bad habits that produced bad results in 2012 and work on changing those habits this year.

My husband bought me a stack of 3 x 5 cards and I will  use those cards to help me to stay focused on working on my new habits. For example: This week, I will write the following on a 3 x 5 card:

My Bad Habit (s)

” You can’t control every situation so , do not allow others to cause you to get upset.”

That’s my focus for my first week of business in 2013 and yes, I have allowed others to cause me to get upset easily and I must learn to let go in order to go up!

My Good Habit

One of my good habits has been my consistency in my weekly routine and in planning my day. I believe the results of being focused has led to me getting much accomplished and having very productive business days.

What bad habit do you have that needs to change? Leave your comment below and let’s get rid of bad habits together!

Good Choices= Good Results

Bad Choices= Bad Results

To a Successful Year of Business,
